City of Lahore

The people of Lahore, when they want to emphasize the uniqueness of their city simply say "Lahore is Lahore". The traditional capital of Punjab for a thousand years, it had been the cultural centre of Northern India extending from Peshawar to New Delhi. It holds this pre-eminent position in Pakistan as well. Lahore is the city of poets, artists and the centre of the country’s film industry. It has some of the finest gardens in the continent and the largest number of educational institutions in the country. Students from all over Pakistan come here to receive their education.

Lahore is the cultural, intellectual and artistic centre of the nation. Its faded elegance, busy streets and bazaars, and wide variety of Islamic and British architecture make it a city full of atmosphere, contrast and surprises.

The warm and receptive people of Lahore are known for their traditional hospitality. This is a city of vivid differences and haunting nuances; where bustling bazaars, frenetic streets, British architecture and the echo of the city's many mosques merge together to form a scene that is both dramatic and fascinating. Being the centre of artistic and literary activities it may rightly be called the cultural capital of Pakistan.
