It is my privilege to serve as Dean for this prestigious Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Central Punjab, Lahore. UCP is one of the leading universities to develop your career and to make you a precious asset of the country. In order to meet the challenges of tomorrow, the university is trying to provide high standard professional education in a very conducive environment to all our students. Faculty of Pharmacy is home to world-class faculty, dedicated students and innovative researchers working toward improving medications and medication-related health outcomes.
After the recognition of pharmacy education by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission in 2011, our faculty has made enormous strides in meeting specific needs of both students and community, exploring new frontiers in drug discovery and development, pharmaceutical sciences, and translational clinical research. These endeavors have led to more than 30 manuscripts in the past three years. Here at the faculty, we value innovation, learning, advancement of knowledge, research and its applications towards improving the use of medications in society, pharmaceutical care and professionalism. Diversity in all of its forms is the core thought of faculty’s research and development. We continually endeavor to augment our betterment and extend our national and international influence through quality education and research. We welcome your comments and suggestions for improvement of pharmacy education and research. Faculty of Pharmacy (FOP)
Faculty of Pharmacy has been established in the University of Central Punjab in recognition of the vital role played by the pharmacist in the health care system. The faculty aims to meet the national and international needs of the pharmacists and to develop the Pharmacy profession in Pakistan.
The faculty has established state-of-the-art infrastructure in accordance with the guidelines of the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. Initially, the faculty is offering a five year Doctor of Pharmacy Program, which is recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and is approved by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.
The university has also started M.Phil. in Pharmaceutics, whereas post graduate programs in various disciplines of pharmacy profession are in progress.
Faculty holds the mission to provide the holistic study with intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social, cultural and physical development. Students are encouraged to develop knowledge, values and skills which will enrich their lives and prepare them to provide services to national and international communities. It has a vision to be recognized nationally and internationally for the innovation and excellence in Pharmacy education, and contributions to advanced pharmacy practices. Faculty is striving hard to produce highly productive pharmacists who not only fulfill the needs of local market but also become an important asset for international communities.
Admission is granted strictly on merit which is determined on the basis of F.Sc. pre-medical or equivalent examination result and is strictly in accordance with the SROs of Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, a statutory body constituted under The Pharmacy Act, to regulate pharmacy education in Pakistan.
Note: The merit and waiting lists are posted on the university’s website and on the notice board of the faculty. Admission letters to the successful candidates are issued and the fees has to be paid within the stipulated time given by the university after the issuance of the letters.
Library for Students
University of Central Punjab has a fully equipped library to serve the study and research needs of UCP students. The library has more than 30,000 books, 45 magazines and over 2,000 CDs. It has newspapers, company and internship reports and projects by students. In addition, the Higher Education Commission has given our campus access to 11,000 online, full-text journals, international databases, and other material published online. These invaluable research materials may be accessed by all of our students, even from their home computers. With plenty of study space, thousands of volumes and online access to journals and databases, you get the world at your fingertips.
