Scholarships and Awards of Punjab Group of Colleges
Any student joining UCP after obtaining entry-level qualification through Punjab Group of Colleges educational network is allowed a 50% tuition fee waiver. This facility is also available to students who choose to join Masters or PhD programs after completing their Bachelor’s Degree from UCP in Business Studies (BBA), Commerce (B.Com), Computer Science 9BS) and Engineering (BEE). There are also various scholarships and awards for position holders from the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education and HEC recognized universities.
Tuition Fee Waiver
In the first term a student will pay dues for 5 courses. However in subsequent terms, dues are calculated on the basis of the number of courses taken by the student, and are payable at the beginning of each semester. Dues once paid are neither refundable nor transferable to any other semester. The 50% tuition fee waiver to PGC students or any other form of concession (except the merit scholarship) will only continue for subsequent terms if a student maintains a CGPA of 3.0 or higher, or a GPA of 3.0 in at least four registered courses. Students can avail themselves of only one fee waiver or scholarship at a time.
Merit Scholarships
The University of Central Punjab offers a 100% tuition fee waiver in the form of merit scholarships on the basis of exceptional performance in the F.A./F.Sc. or B.A./B.Sc. examinations held under the annual examination system. Eligibility for merit scholarships is determined on the basis of 75% aggregate marks in:
- F.A./F.Sc. examination for BBA/BS programs
- B.A./B.Sc. examination for MBA/MS programs
- OR -
- 3 As in A’ Level secured in one attempt for BBA/BS programs
UCP also offers 50% tuition fee waiver on the basis of 70% marks in F.A./F.Sc. and B.A./B.Sc. examinations held under the annual system of examination or 2 As in A’ Levels secured in one attempt.
Scholarship granted students receive exemption of tuition fee in the first semester. Tuition fee exemption shall be extended in subsequent semesters if the student maintains the CGPA of 3.80 or higher. If a student on merit scholarship fails to achieve a CGPA of 3.80 or higher but has a CGPA of 3.50 or higher then 50% of the tuition fee waiver will be given in the subsequent terms. If it falls further to any level between 3.50 and 3.25, the concession shall further be reduced to 25% of the concession being availed. A position holder in Board or university will also be offered merit scholarship on the aforementioned criteria.
PGC Fee Concessions are offered to alumni of all its institutions at the rate of 50% of the fee. Such students are required to maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.00 to continue availing the fee concessions. If the CGPAs of such students fall below 3.00 up to 2.75, their fee concessions would be reduced to 50% of the concessions being availed. If the CGPA falls further from 2.74 to up to 2.50, their concessions shall be reduced to 25% of the concession being availed.
Scholarships based on academic performance are awarded to all students in the form of 50% of the fee concession on attaining CGPA of 3.80 and above or 25% on achieving CGPA from 3.50 to 3.79 CGPA in a semester.
UCP’s scholarships are awarded to students of second and subsequent semesters as cash awards of Rx. 10,000/- each if they secure a CGPA of 3.90 or higher for academic programs. The amount of the UCP scholarship shall be in addition to the Fee Concession of 50% allowed to students having CGPA=>3.80. conditions for Cash Scholarship are given as under:
- Taking prescribed load of courses.
- No record of any disciplinary action.
(The fee concessions/scholarships are exclusively for academic programs in the morning session.)
25% Fee concessions on basis of kinship is also available to siblings. This concession is subject to maintaining a CGPA of 3.00 in the subsequent semesters.
100% Fee concession is allowed to student with a major disability and 50% to students with a minor disability. Such a concession requires maintaining a CGPA of 2.80 in both cases.
Qarze Hasna Scheme
The Qarze Hasna Scheme has been initiated to facilitate those students who marginally fail to achieve merit scholarships or retain the requisite CGPA for such awards during their studies. The Scheme envisages return of the Qarze Hasna in soft installments upon acquisition of gainful employment after completion of their studies.
PICIC Commercial Bank Talimi Loans
Arrangements have been made with PICIC Commercial Bank for the award of educational loans (Talimi Loans) for deserving students studying at University of Central Punjab. This initiative has been in place since Fall 2005.
Fee Concession Under Faculty Development Scheme
Faculty members of the UCP desirous of pursuing higher education have been provided with a 100% fee concession on joining MPhil/PhD programs at UCP, or payment of tuition fee at universities abroad, in addition to their salaries, along with 5% annual increment for the duration of the study program. Employees with 3 years’ service at PGC can also avail the incentive of furtherance of their academic careers allowing 50% concession in tuition fee and 100% exemption of admission fee on meeting the eligibility and selection criteria of the programs offered at UCP.
Teaching/Technical Assistants
The University of Central Punjab encourages hardworking, outstanding and responsible students by offering them the opportunity to assist in the management of the computer labs, or to work with faculty members as Teaching Assistants. TA’s are normally appointed for one term and are paid a stipend for giving 10 hours per week to the institution. It is a matter of great honor to be selected as a TA, as well as a good opportunity to earn out-of-pocket-expenses while learning.
Need-based Scholarships / Tuition Fee Waiver
A large number of need-based scholarships and tuition fee waivers are available to students who fall into compelling circumstances during their studies. The Scholarship and Fee Concession Committee reviews the genuineness of the applications and makes the decision. In case a student qualifies for multiple categories of scholarships or fee waivers, only the larger scholarship may be availed.
Workers Welfare Fund Scholarships
The Workers Welfare Fund is a welfare fund which was established by the Federal Government to look after the welfare measures for industrial employees in the country. The organization works under the administrative control of the Ministry of Labour, Manpower & Overseas Pakistanis.
The Workers Welfare Fund has initiated a massive education program for the children of industrial employees at various levels. One of its programs deals with providing Post-Matric Scholarships.
This scholarship will cover all expenses related to registration, admission fees, tuition etc.
Additionally, Rs. 2,300 will be paid to day scholars and Rs. 3,500 will be paid to boarders respectively on a monthly basis.

Faculty of Engineering Scholarships
The Faculty of Engineering offers merit scholarships on the basis of academic excellence in examinations held by the respective Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education and the University. Eligibility for merit scholarships is determined on the basis of 75% aggregate marks in Intermediate Examinations. A’ Level students will be considered for merit scholarships on the basis of IBCC Equivalence Certificate.
All candidates coming from an annual system securing 75% or higher marks in their previous certificate or degree are given 75% fee concession on the tuition fee. This is continued if they maintain a CGPA higher than a level specified by the management with a minimum workload of 15 credits (or 5 courses) in a semester. Outstanding students securing a good CGPA in a semester are encouraged by providing scholarships to them. The amount of scholarship varies in each semester. However, 25-50% tuition fee can be waived off for such performance provided the respective student does not default on discipline, attendance, etc. and the above conditions for workload are fulfilled.
