Centre for English Language and General Education is committed to the goal of developing students’ English language proficiency and broadening their allied knowledge base to give a multidimensional outlook to their power of understanding, communicating, managing and resolving the professional and personal issues.

The need to communicate in English is assuming more and more importance since the major chunk of the latest knowledge, concerning various dimensions of human life on the globe, is published and propagated in this language.

Subjects like psychology, sociology, Pakistan movement etc are subjects of universal application, helping students to understand themselves and their environments and thus enabling them to forge amicable, enduring and mutually beneficial relationships between people and people and people and the environments.

Faculty

Dr. Fehmida Sultana
Dr. Fehmida Sultana has a PhD in English Literature from Tufts University, USA. She has been associated with University of Central Punjab (UCP) since 1994. Before joining UCP, she had taught at Harvard University, and University of Tennessee in USA.  She has worked on various teaching and administrative positions at the university level in Pakistan and overseas. In 2006 Dr. Fehmida Sultana assumed her responsibilities as Pro-Rector of the University of Central Punjab.  On completion of her tenure as Pro-Rector, she was assigned the office of the Dean of Academics in 2010. She is the chairperson and member of several committees and associations. She is also a member of the Punjab Public Service Commission’s Evaluation Committee. Her teaching and research interests are in British Romantic Poetry and Colonial and Post-Colonial literature.

Ambreen Iqbal
Ambreen Iqbal currently a PhD research scholar in the School of Human & Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield, UK and also served as a visiting staff member for the same. She did her M-Phil & MSc from the department of Applied Psychology, University of The Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. She has rich teaching experience of various reputable universities including Punjab University, Lahore, Lahore School of Economics and Huddersfield University. She has expertise in Research Methods & Quantitative Data analysis (SPSS). She conducted a lot of workshops on SPSS and also awarded certification by the Huddersfield University. She is an active researcher and published a lot of papers in renowned National and International Journals. Raffia Mallick
Rafia Mallick has earned her Master’s in Applied Research and Policy Analysis from Hofstra University, New York, USA and Bachelor’s in Sociology from University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. After persistently winning accolades all through her academic career i.e. a Second Position in undergraduate and a Distinction in graduate, she started working in academia enthusiastically at University of Central Punjab, Lahore. She has worked on several research projects during her graduate and undergraduate program. These include a report for Life Way Network on “Evaluation of Available Resources for Human Trafficking Survivors in NYC”, “Resident Evaluation of Graduate Medical Education, NSUH/ LIJ”, “LIBQUAL- University Library Services Evaluation” for Axinn Library, Hofstra University, NY and “Cultural and Social Impacts of Shalamar Garden on the city of Lahore” for Lok Virsa, Lahore. During her tenure at UCP Business School, she has conducted a workshop on Soft Skills Training for Care Foundation, and How to Study for Semester System for UCP students. She has also worked as Conference Assistant, organizing the 2nd International Conference on Contemporary Issues in Business Management (ICIBM-2012). Her areas of research and teaching are Sociology, Gender Studies, Research Methods, Business Ethics and Organizational Behavior.

Muhammad Ilyas Ansari
Muhammad Ilyas Ansari is currently serving UCP as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Management Studies. He got his M.Phil degree from University of the Punjab in Political Science. He is an author of 5 books on International Affairs and Cultural issues in Pakistan. Muhammad Ilyas Ansari gained a valuable teaching experience by teaching in several Universities of Pakistan in Islamabad and Lahore.  Presently he is fully involved in teaching and research work in the fields of International Relations, Pakistan’s Foreign Policy, and War on Terror in Pakistan. Muhammad Ilyas Ansari frequently appears on TV channels for International and National issues. He has vast experience of travelling not only inside country but outside as well, like UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Bosnia Herzegovina, Poland, Turkey, China, Iran, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. Muhammad Ilyas Ansari is doing his PhD in Politics & International Relations from International Islamic University Islamabd.
