|Information & Operation Management Division
The Division of Information & Operations Management (DIOM) at the UCP Business School – University of Central Punjab is geared towards facilitating the students in acquiring state of the art/leading edge knowledge in two broad disciplines; Information Systems and Operations Management. The research orientation at the division helps making connection between the latest research, global issues, and the local environment; thus preparing students to deal with the challenges of local environment.
The evolving scope of the extended supply chains, complexity in operations, competition for quality, increasing role of information technology both at operational and strategic level makes the task of managing enterprise exciting yet all the more challenging. The principles and practices of information & operations management are as applicable to the small and medium enterprises as they are to the large scale corporations and the MNCs. Whether a firm is in manufacturing business or service industry, effective operations and supply chain management remains the basic building blocks its success; and information systems serves the backbone for efficiency and effectiveness in their operations and supply chains.
The aim of advancing knowledge in information & operations management area is to prepare future business managers and leaders to assume important and leading positions in the industry and improving the efficiency and effectiveness and service level while reducing the cost of the operations.
The learning environment is facilitated using latest research material, case method teaching optimally supported by lectures, class discussions and industry projects. These are augmented by inviting guest speakers from the industry to share their experiences and thoughts and strengthen the connection between the academia and the industry.
The department of Operations and Supply Chain Management strives to
- Develop future business leaders and professional by facilitating learning and in the areas of supply chain management, operations, and information management
- Conduct research to advance scholarship in the supply chain area while bridging the academia-industry gap
The Division of Information & Operations Management (DIOM) comprises of 7 highly qualified and experienced full time faculty members; out of which three faculty members hold doctoral qualification in quality management, supply chain management, and business process modelling.
DIOM also engages highly experienced professionals from industry on visiting basis in order link theory with practice in the industry; which also helps maintaining close links with the industry.

Dr. Rizwan Ahmed
Dr. Rizwan Ahmed is Head of the Department of Information Technology in UCP Business School. He holds PhD in Business Process Modeling and Simulation from University of Hertfordshire UK. He did his MSc. in Software Engineering from University of Hertfordshire and BS in Computer Science from University of Central Punjab. Dr. Rizwan has over 10 years of academic and industry experience in Pakistan and UK. Before joining University of Central Punjab, he held research and academic positions at University of Hertfordshire, UK and University of Teesside, UK where he has been involved on major applied projects in collaboration with the industry. In his consulting and research capacity, he has worked with the companies like British Telecom, British Airways, IBM, and Siemens. He has also worked as a visiting research fellow at Warwick Business School and University of Nottingham, UK. Dr. Rizwan Ahmed currently teaches E-Marketing and Social Media to post-graduate and undergraduate classes at UCP. His previous teaching assignments include Operations Management, Project Management, Management Information Systems, and Systems Analysis and Design.
Saba Mustafa is currently working in University of Central Punjab as an Assistant Professor in the faculty of Management Studies. She has done BS and MS in computer Sciences from Lahore College for Women University, Lahore. Her area of Specialization is Data Mining. She has a professional experience of both Industry and educational sector. She worked for two years as a Senior Software Engineer in different organizations. For now she is in Education sector and taking Subjects of Information Technology and Management Information System in the faculty of Management Studies. Her area of interest/ Research is Business Information System
Mr. Farrukh Iqbal is currently working as Assistant Professor in UCP Business School. He did Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 2004. Inspired by the broad spectrum of Operations and Quality Assurance he rendered services in various manufacturing and service sectors including MCB Bank (Pvt.) Ltd, Bank Alfalah (Pvt.) Ltd, Volvo Technology-Sweden, Tvatteriet-e-Alingsas-Sweden and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology-Islamabad.
During working in various organizations he successfully did Masters in Total Quality Management from University of Punjab Lahore in 2007. In the same year he got scholarship from Higher Education Commission for MSc. in Quality and Operations Management from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. Besides completing his Masters from Sweden, he also did Six Sigma Black Belt and conducted a research on ‘Lean Product Development” in Volvo Technology.
Salman Ahmed has MBA from the University of Huddersfield United Kingdom and Masters degree in computer sciences from the University of Central Punjab. He has also CMI Level 8 Diploma in Strategic Direction and Leadership (QCF) from the Chartered Management Institute, UK. He is also the member of Chartered Management Institute, UK. He also has 5 years FMCG sales management experience from UK. He teaches Information Systems, IT and Management courses.
