The course enable students understand the modelling, analysis, design and applications of various photovoltaic systems. This course covers semiconductor theory and photovoltaic effect, non-linear I-V characteristics of PV array, modelling and analysis of PV array using MATLAB/Simulink, DC-DC converters and impedance-matching mechanism, effects of partial shading on PV array, maximum power point trackers of uniform and non-uniform conditions, stand-alone and grid-connected PV systems, pay-back time and economic analysis of PV systems.
