I, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, joined department of Zoology, University of the Punjab, Lahore as Research Officer (Research Projects Sponsored by Pakistan Science Foundation) in 1982 and retired as Professor of Zoology, University of the Punjab in 2015. I also joined Department of Zoology again from 2015 to 2017 as professor of Zoology (on contract). I joined School of Zoology as visiting Professor, Minhaj University, Lahore. I joined regular faculty member in School of Zoology again as Associate Professor of Zoology, Minhaj University, Lahore from 8-1- 2018 to 30—11—2020. I joined Department of Zoology, as Professor of Zoology, University of Central Punjab 1- Khayaban-e- Jinnah, Johar Town, Lahore on 01- 12- 2020.

I worked in different capacities in the University of the Punjab as Chairman, Department of Zoology, Honey Bee and Fish Form projects, Convener Board Studies in Zoology, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, Registrar, Chairman of Hall Council, Warden of Boy’s hostel no. 7, Student’s adviser, Member of Affiliation Committee, University of the Punjab, Lahore. Member of Editorial Committee, Punjab University Journal of Zoology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Life- Fellow, Zoological Society of Pakistan.

HEC selected me as HEC Approved Supervisor for PhD level students funded under various HEC in-country Scholarship Programs. Eighteen (18) PhD students, twenty (20) M.Phil. /M.S. students

Forty-eight (48) M.Sc. /B. S. students have completed their theses under my supervision and awarded degrees. Four (4) PhD students have submitted their theses for evaluation in the University of the Punjab, Lahore under my supervision. I published two hundreds and three(203) research articles in various national and international journals having impact factor as well as HEC recognized journals of various categories. Establishment of Zoological Museum, DR. Abu Bakr Fossil Display and Research Center, and Central Laboratory for M. Phil. And PhD students in the Department of Zoology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.
