The Department of Basic & Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Science & Technology (FOST), successfully organized the “1st International Symposium on Recent Advances in Chemistry”, bringing together 11 renowned scientists from across the world.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Muhammad Farooq Wahab (University of Texas at Arlington, USA), Dr. Thomas J. Webster (Hebei University of Technology, China; Nobel Prize Nominee), Dr. Sarah Haris (The University of Sheffield, UK), Dr. Melita Menlaou and Mr. Christoss Panagiotou (Cyprus University of Technology, Limassol, Cyprus), Dr. Jamshed Hashim (KFU University, Graz, Austria), Dr. Ajmal Khan (Natural and Medical Sciences Research Center, University of Nizwa, Oman), Dr. Emmanuel N. Koukaras (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah (Director ICCBS, University of Karachi, Pakistan), Dr. Zaid G. Mohammadsalih (Applied Science Department, University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq), and Dr. Fernando Bacega (Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil).
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Ghayoor Abbass Chotana (Head of Department, LUMS), and the concluding session featured Dr. Shazma Azeem (Head of Department, FCCU), who shared valuable insights on contemporary research trends. With vibrant participation from faculty, students, industry professionals, and researchers, the symposium reflected UCP’s commitment to global collaboration, innovation, and research excellence.
