Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry organized a hands-on training introductory session for post-graduate students of Chemistry and Biochemistry on October 3, 2024. The session started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Muhammad Abu Bakr followed by Welcome note by Dr. Sumera Zaib, HOD Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry. She highlighted the need for laboratory exposure to students as they step into the lab, it is essential to ensure that they are well-prepared to handle sophisticated equipment and adhere to laboratory safety protocols. This workshop was designed not only to familiarize students with the lab environment but also to provide the necessary skills to help them succeed in future research endeavours. Later, Dr. Salma Batool talked about Practising Safe Science/Lab Safety, Dr. Amina Arif talked about DNA and Protein Isolation and purification, Dr. Afzal talked about Natural products isolation for drug development.
Dr. Sumera Zaib, Dr. Muhammad Riaz and Dr. Pervaiz helped the students get familiar with Lyophilization, fluorescence Spectrophotometer, ELISA, FTIR and Sample preparation.
The Session ended with concluding remarks and a note of thanks by HOD.
