Faculty of Science and Technology in collaboration with Learning Innovation Centre conducted third session in its ongoing capacity-building series. The session, titled “Assessment, Grading, Purpose, and Technique,” aimed at enhancing faculty members’ understanding of assessment design and grading strategies. Dr. Talha Zubair Ahmed Khan, Faculty of Management Studies led the session, engaging 59 FOST faculty members over two slots. Dr. Khan provided valuable insights into creating assessments that are aligned with course objectives, emphasizing the importance of clear instructions, varying question difficulty, and effective grading methods.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Dean, FOST addressed the participants, stressing the significance of assessment for enhancing student learning. He highlighted the need for faculty members to adopt innovative and purposeful evaluation techniques, especially in the context of generative AI’s growing influence. Prof. Farrukh encouraged the faculty to explore new strategies to maintain academic integrity and effectively measure students’ understanding and skills.
