The Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science and Technology, organized an impactful seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness for students and faculty on October 30, 2024. This event was held in collaboration with Hormone Lab and Pink Ribbon Pakistan, under the esteemed supervision of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh. The Head of the Microbiology Department, Dr. Aatif Amin, welcomed the guest speakers and highlighted the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer in Pakistan. Esteemed guest speakers included Mr. Omer Aftab, CEO of Pink Ribbon Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Talat Waseem, Surgical Oncologist at Shalamar Medical and Dental College, and Prof. Dr. Amna Javed, Consultant Surgeon at Lahore General Hospital, who shared invaluable insights into national screening initiatives, treatment options, and preventive strategies. In his concluding remarks, the Dean shared his thoughts and expressed gratitude to the speakers for their invaluable contributions. The guests praised the efforts of organizers Dr. Naila Noureen, Ms. Iqra Jamil, and their team for putting together such a well-executed event. The event concluded with an awareness walk and a souvenir ceremony attended by Hormone Lab representatives, Mr. Jahan e Khalid, Dr. Ahmed Naseem, and Dr. Rimsha Munir, with giveaways from both Hormone Lab and Pink Ribbon Pakistan presented to the distinguished guests. This seminar successfully fostered knowledge-sharing and awareness, reinforcing the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer.
