Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry inaugurated its Short Course on Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics. Ms. Ruqia Arif introduced the objectives of the course and emphasized the importance of hands-on learning in clinical diagnostics. Prof. Dr. M. Akhyar Farrukh appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing such a timely initiative. He highlighted that the training will enhance students’ knowledge and provide practical exposure to biochemical techniques applied in medical diagnostics.
After the opening session, Prof. Dr. Sumera Zaib delivered an insightful lecture on Overview of Clinical Biochemistry and its Role in Disease Diagnosis. Her session set the academic tone for the course, emphasizing the critical role of biochemical approaches in healthcare.
The second lecture of the day was conducted by Mr. Ahsan Ali, Senior Lab Technologist at Minhaj-ul-Quran Laboratory, Ali Hospital, and Al Riaz Diagnostic Center. He covered Diagnostic Markers, ELISA Principles and Applications, Tumor Markers, and Endocrine Diagnostics, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world diagnostic applications.
The opening day concluded successfully with participants appreciating the highly interactive and informative sessions. The short course will continue until 29th August 2025, including further lectures and practical laboratory sessions.
