FOE Students' Visit UCP Powerhouse

The Faculty of Engineering organized a visit for final-year BSc Electrical Engineering students (Fall 2021 batch) to the UCP powerhouse, supervised by Dr. Riaz Ahmad Rana, Assistant Professor. The students were warmly welcomed by the powerhouse staff, and Mr. Mudassar, the operator, gave an overview of power generation, distribution, and protection. The students were inspired as they observed various pieces of equipment, including generators, exciters, cooling systems, engines, busbars, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and the monitoring system. The visit also provided an opportunity for students to engage in a question-and-answer session related to their field of interest.

The visit allowed students to gain practical insights into the operations of a power plant and how theoretical knowledge is applied in real-world scenarios. It was a valuable experience that helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice. Students were able to ask questions and interact with professionals in the field, further enhancing their understanding of electrical engineering concepts. This hands-on experience will certainly contribute to their academic and professional growth.
