The Faculty of Science & Technology (FOST) at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) hosted a hands-on workshop today titled “Understanding Air Pollution Dynamics and Effective Sampling Strategies.” The workshop was part of FOST’s Faculty Exchange Program, aimed at addressing environmental challenges through collaboration and practical learning.
The event featured Dr. Haider A. Khwaja from the University at Albany, USA, and Dr. Muhammad Kamran from the University of Karachi, who shared their expertise on air pollution dynamics and sampling techniques for pollutants like PM2.5, ozone, CO2, VOCs, and black carbon. Participants had the opportunity to practice using advanced equipment and methods for air quality assessments.
The workshop ended with remarks from Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Dean of FOST, who praised the resource persons and participants for their efforts. He highlighted the importance of such workshops in preparing students and researchers to tackle environmental issues. Dr. Farrukh also presented souvenirs to the experts as a token of appreciation. Dr. Nimra Afzal, Assistant Professor of Zoology, was key in organizing the event.
