The Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Science and Technology organized a one-day visit to Chughtai Laboratories, Lahore, for the 2nd and 6th semester students of the BS Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. This visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practices, giving students firsthand exposure to professional diagnostic labs. They toured key sections such as Blood Banking, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Virology. In Blood Banking, students observed blood typing and cross-matching techniques, while in Microbiology, they learned about microorganism culturing and drug susceptibility testing.
The Molecular Biology section was particularly fascinating, showcasing advanced techniques like PCR and genetic testing, while the Virology section demonstrated methods such as ELISA for diagnosing viral infections. Students also witnessed the integration of automation and strict safety protocols in lab operations
