Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry continued its LabXpert 2025: Hands-on Training and Skill Development in Laboratory Instrumentation & Practices with a specialized session on the Chromatography of Natural Products, conducted by Dr. Muhammad Afzal. The session provided participants with practical training on the purification of secondary metabolites from plant extracts using column chromatography techniques. Participants learned about the selection of stationary and mobile phases, column packing, sample loading, and fraction collection for effective compound separation. Dr. Afzal also highlighted the significance of chromatographic purity, solvent optimization, and sample recovery in natural product research, offering valuable insights into phytochemical isolation and analytical practices.
