SUPARCO Pakistan, in collaboration with China International Corporation, the Chinese Academy of Science, and the China Manned Space Agency is jointly working on a series of advanced space science experiments alongside Pakistani scientists. This partnership aims to push the boundaries of space research and technology.
Principal Investigators (PIs) from five selected universities have undergone rigorous training nationally and internationally. This training focused on conducting research under microgravity and simulated microgravity conditions, preparing them for the complexities of space missions.
Among the notable projects, the research initiative “Effect of Microgravity on Lactobacillus acidophilus for Human Immunity Fortification against COVID-19” led by Ms. Sadia Zia has received approval from both SUPARCO Pakistan and the China Manned Space Agency. This project will be a significant part of the upcoming joint space mission, showcasing the collaborative efforts between the two nations.
In a groundbreaking development, the University of Central Punjab will be the first private-sector university to participate in this joint mission. Other esteemed institutions include the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, the University of Okara and Mian Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan. This collective effort underscores the growing emphasis on academic contributions to space exploration and research.
