Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC and a distinguished academician and expert in chemistry and nanomaterials, was invited as a guest speaker by the Department of Chemistry, Lahore Garrison University (LGU), to deliver a keynote talk as part of a special session titled “Chemistry Careers: Navigating Beyond the Lab.” on 27 May 2025
Dr. Farrukh delivered an engaging talk on “Careers in Chemistry: Broadening Horizons Beyond the Lab.” Addressing an enthusiastic audience comprising undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and early-career researchers, he shed light on the evolving and interdisciplinary nature of chemistry in today’s world.
In his presentation, Dr. Farrukh explored the wide-ranging applications of chemistry across sectors such as environmental sciences, pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, forensics, advanced materials, nanotechnology, and energy. He underscored the growing need for chemists to think beyond traditional laboratory roles and embrace innovation, research commercialization, and entrepreneurship—particularly within the context of Pakistan’s scientific and industrial landscape.
