B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering

B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering at UCP is designed to cultivate knowledge, skills and problem-solving abilities needed to modify and develop solutions to industrial and societal problems through the exercise of responsible leadership in times of swift change. We Provide hands-on experience and cooperative training that prepares our students for career opportunities in diverse fields as professional engineers. At the Mechanical Engineering Department, we strive to equip our graduates with knowledge, skills and values that are needed to become effective problem solvers in the modern industrial environment for leading society towards a sustainable future.

The Faculty of Engineering launched its Mechanical Engineering program in Fall 2011, and the first accreditation visit by Pakistan Engineering Council was successfully held in 2015, resulting in the accreditation of the inaugural batch F11 (Fall 2011 intake). Since 2019, the Department of Mechanical Engineering achieved Level-II Accreditation status under the Outcome-Based Education & Assessment (OBE&A) System, for batches F15 to F22. Most recently, in 2024, the department applied for re-accreditation of batches F21 onwards, and was successfully awarded Level-II accreditation for the F21 and F22 intakes. Level-II accreditation means that our degree is accepted in Washington Accord signatory countries (UK, Canada, Australia etc.).

MED is housed in two dedicated multistory buildings and boast 10 state-of-the-art laboratories and five workshops, including the newly built foundry shop. A new HEC funded Human Centered Robotics lab is now fully functional with the purpose to develop exoskeleton robotic devices to help disabled persons to enhance their mobility. Qualified and dedicated faculty members are teaching Mechanical Engineering students at undergraduate as well as graduate level with full zeal and commitment. Ten batches with around 570 students have graduated from this program so far that provide a strong alumni network across the globe.

The Mechanical Engineering program is structured in accordance with HEC’s semester credit hour requirements and PEC’s engineering skills development objectives. The curriculum has been refined through continuous quality improvement and follows the guidelines of PEC and HEC’s National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC) to ensure inclusion of foundation, breadth, and depth courses.

The curriculum spans five major knowledge domains:

  • Design & Control
  • Thermal & Fluids
  • Manufacturing & Materials
  • Humanities
  • General Sciences & Management

The program targets all three learning domains—cognitive, psychomotor, and affective—through a balanced mix of teaching and assessment methods. Computer programming, Computer Aided-Design and simulation and AI have been made integral part of the program to train young professional to thrive in modern industrial era.
