The BS Program is designed to equip students with a firm grounding in the field of political science. The study of political science is generally divided into four focus areas: political theory, comparative politics, international relations, and public policy. Students will take a number of courses in each area in order to establish a holistic understanding of the field. Students will have the option to opt for a greater number of courses in an area of their interest as the program allows students the option of choosing from various elective courses. The program also has a strong interdisciplinary focus and students will be required to take courses from other social science disciplines such as history, philosophy, psychology, economics, anthropology, sociology, and religious studies. Students can also opt to take language courses. The objective is to allow students to have a wide horizon that extends beyond the confines of their major and create possibilities of conversation between different disciplines in the liberal arts.
The program starts off with core requirements and foundational courses in political science. Over time students take courses that build on that foundation and incrementally increase their knowledge in political theory, research methods, area studies, country-specific studies, and international relations
