PhD Microbiology
The duration of PhD Microbiology Degree Program is 3 years minimum and 8 years maximum. First year is comprised of course work followed by comprehensive examination and research synopsis approval. Before submission of PhD dissertation, students are required to publish at least one article of PhD work.

- Following are the minimum requirements that must be met by a student for the award of a PhD degree by UCP.
- 18 Cr. Hrs. course work;
- 18 Cr. Hrs course work shall be completed by the student during first 04
- regular semesters.
- Comprehensive examination;
- Research work synopsis;
- Course work, comprehensive examinations and synopsis defense shall be completed by the student during first 06 regaluar semesters.
- 30 Cr. Hrs. research work;
- Publication of at least one research paper in a reputed research journal;
- Dissertation’s foreign reviews (as per policy), and
- Dissertation defense.
- A PhD scholar shall cease to continue his/her studies if he/she fails to complete 18
Cr. Hrs. coursework within first four regular semesters with at least 3.00/4.00 CGPA.
The required coursework, comprehensive exam, and defense of synopsis/research proposals should be completed within the first six semesters of the registration into a PhD program. In case of noncompliance, the registration shall be cancelled and transcripts for completion of coursework may be issued to the student.
