Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized a workshop on “Innovation, Patents, and Research Commercialization” led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director, ORIC. The session aimed to enhance faculty skills in managing intellectual property and conducting applied research. Participants learned about what qualifies as patentable, how to structure patent applications, and handle objections during prosecution. It also included live demonstrations of online platforms like the USPTO Patent Center and IPO Pakistan e-journal, helping participants monitor patent progress and access published applications. The workshop motivated faculty to pursue innovation, institutional consultancy, and research impact, supporting ORIC-UCP’s goal of fostering applied research and knowledge transfer.
