The International Conference on Mental Health, Human Dignity, and Climate Change: Mitigating Global Psychological Risks 2025, organized by Depart of Psychology , Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Uiversity of Central Punjab, served as a global platform to explore the intersections of human dignity, mental health, and climate change. The event brought together international scholars, mental health professionals, and environmental advocates to address how cycles of humiliation, social inequality, and environmental degradation affect psychological well-being and community resilience. Through keynote addresses, scientific sessions, panel discussions, and dignilogues, the conference fostered cross-cultural collaboration and inspired collective action toward global psychological sustainability.
The organizing team included Prof. Dr. Hammad Naveed (Pro-Rector, UCP) as Patron-in-Chief and Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt (Dean, FHSS, UCP) as Co-Patron-in-Chief. The Conference Chief Organizers, Prof. Dr. Shazia Hasan (UCP, Pakistan) and Dr. Evelin Gerda Lindner (University of Oslo & Human DHS, Norway), led the event with the support of Dr. Bushra Naz (UCP), Dr. Gulnaz Anjum (University of Limerick, Ireland), and Miss Naeema Sarfraz (UCP). Miss Momina Nayyer served as the Conference Secretary, ensuring smooth coordination throughout.
The inaugural ceremony featured opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, Dr. Hammad Naveed, and Dr. Yasmeen Khan Sardar. Keynote addresses by Dr. Evelin Lindner and Dr. Beate Seibt from the University of Oslo, Norway, alongside Dr. Gulnaz Anjum from the University of Limerick, Ireland, set a reflective tone on human dignity and emotional resilience. After that a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Shazia Hasan, marking a meaningful step toward fostering global dialogue on the interplay between mental health and ecological sustainability. The first day featured six scientific sessions showcasing significant academic contributions, followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr. Asir Ajmal (Dean, NCBA&E) with distinguished panelists included, Dr. Rafia Rafique (Director, Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab), Dr. Uzma Ali (Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Karachi), Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool (Professor, GC University Lahore), Dr. Saqib Bajwa (Assistant Professor & Head of Psychiatry, Gujranwala Medical College), and Dr. Abul Kalam Azad (Bangladesh) and Prof. Dr. Shazia Hasan (Head of Psychology Department, UCP) moderated by Dr. Bushra Naz (Associate Professor, Psychology Department, UCP).
