Research and Development (R&D) Cluster meeting on Minerals and Rare Earth Metals was convened by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairperson PHEC, to promote collaborative research and technological advancement in the field of advanced materials. The cluster brings together leading institutions including the University of the Punjab, University of Central Punjab (UCP), and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore to jointly pursue high-impact research on minerals, rare earth metals, and their strategic applications. Representing UCP, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Principal Investigator of the project, presented the progress of the initiative titled “Center for Nanomaterials and Rare Metal-Based Advanced Technologies,” highlighting ongoing research on advanced nanomaterials, rare metal resources, and their potential environmental and industrial applications. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan appreciated the contributions of participating universities and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and strong industry linkages to develop indigenous technologies and strengthen Pakistan’s capabilities in rare materials and advanced manufacturing.
