Meeting of the Research, Innovation, and Commercialization office’s Principal Investigators with the Pro-Rector brought together PIs leading both internally and externally funded projects to review research progress, explore future opportunities, and discuss strategies to strengthen the university’s research culture. The Pro-Rector highlighted the significance of internal research grants as a platform for capacity building and professional development, encouraging their use as practice-oriented learning experiences to enhance future external grant applications. Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, shared that UCP currently hosts nine externally funded projects, alongside ten Internal Research Grant Projects (IRGP), five FYP Student-Led Research & Innovation Fund projects, and three Product Development Fund (PDF) projects. The meeting also underscored ORIC’s commitment to transparency through regular updates on its official website under the “Research Support & Funding” section, and concluded with a productive discussion on improving research quality, increasing the success of external funding, and fostering greater collaboration among researchers.
