True inclusion goes beyond curriculum—it is about lived experience, shared spaces, and breaking down communication barriers. Since introducing Pakistani Sign Language (PSL) as a compulsory course for our BS English Linguistics students, our journey has been driven by a commitment to meaningful accessibility.
Today, we take our boldest step yet: Deaf instructor Muhammad Mueen Nawaz is officially teaching our hearing students.
While taking risks always brings uncertainty—and initial apprehensions from both within and outside the community—we chose courage over comfort. With dedicated interpreter support on day one to bridge the gap, the classroom transformed instantly. Barriers melted away as students eagerly signed back, turning our lecture halls into vibrant spaces of direct, inclusive communication.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the UCP management and a special thank you to Ms. Shazia Anwar for expertly interpreting on day one.
Inclusion should be the norm. Together, we are making it happen.
