Chinese Consul General Merit-Based & Need-Based Scholarships worth PKR 1 Million for FOHSS Students

The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China at Lahore in a generous move to support high-achievers and financially challenged students of FoHSS has announced 20 additional scholarships in July 2024. They have doubled the scholarship amount to PKR 1 million from PKR 0.5 million in 2023. These scholarships, 14 merit-based and 6 need-based, each worth 50,000 PKR, aim to encourage and assist students in their academic pursuits. This initiative reflects the Consulate General’s commitment to promoting educational excellence and supporting deserving students.
Recently, in August 2023, during Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt’s visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lahore, His Excellency DU Yue, Director of the Political and Academic Department announced the provision of ten Consulate General Scholarships, worth Five Hundred Thousand Rupees, for the students of FOHSS.
In continuity of the spirit of collaboration, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences organized the Consul General China Scholarship Distribution Ceremony in November 2023. Mr. Zhao Shiren, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China at Lahore, attended the event as the chief guest. He promised to double the amount in the future.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to educational collaboration between China and Pakistan, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China conferred Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt with the “Friendship Award 2023” on December 21, 2023, at Falettis Hotel.
The series of events and initiatives since the past year highlight a deepening partnership between China and Pakistan in the field of education. Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt’s contributions, recognized through the Friendship Award, and the subsequent scholarships provided by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, underscore a shared dedication to academic collaboration and cultural exchange.
