Faculty of Media and Mass Communication in collaboration with Pak Mission Society, has organized a symposium on Climate Action Day titled “Youth Leadership in Climate Action: Solutions for a Sustainable Future” on 28th October 2024. Dr. Fahad Anis (HoD at FMMC) served as the Focal Person from UCP. Dr. Fawad Baig (Dean FMMC) opened the event with a speech on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate action, welcoming participants including Mr. Ahmer Shahzad, Project Manager at Pak Mission Society. As part of the symposium, four competitions—Poster, Video, Speech, and Model—were held to engage youth in climate awareness. Students from UCP and various schools across Lahore participated. A panel discussion on climate action featured distinguished panelists: Dr. Atif Ashraf, HoD at FMMC; Mr. Hassan Bin Sadat, Lecturer at the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab; Mr. Umar Chaudhary, Senior Manager Communication at Lahore Waste Management Company; and Mr. Sajid Qudoos Awan, Chief Conservator of Forest Extension and Research at the Forestry, Wildlife, & Fisheries Department, Government of Punjab. Mr. Syed Ibrar Abulhassan hosted the symposium and moderated the panel, while Mr. Ahsan Farooqi (Senior Lecturer) was part of the organizing team. Judges for the competitions included Dr. Muhammad Irfan Ali (Assistant Professor at FoHSS), Muhammad Shahid (Senior Lecturer at FMMC), Ms. Yakhshi Saleem (Senior Lecturer at FMMC), and Mr. Omer Saeed Qureshi (Lecturer at FMMC). The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector of UCP, who distributed shields among the panelists and position holders of the competitions.
