Guest Speakers Initiative (Session 1)

BBA Program Office organized a guest speaker session with Mr. Muhammad Abrar Ahmad, Manager – Marketing, Sapphire Apparel (Pvt), on 22nd March. Main agenda points included: 1) Challenges of B2B marketing in export markets, as faced by Sapphire, 2) Demand patterns and common supply chain strategies opted by Pakistani apparel industry. Mr. Abrar presented a brief overview of corporate footprint held by Sapphire group, particularly the role Sapphire Apparel played in the conglomerate’s competitive strategy. Speaking of common practices in the sector, the guest shared ‘Cooperative Competition’ being common among local apparel manufacturers. He also pointed out that the dearth of appropriately skilled workforce might hit the sector in next few years and this stayed as one of the leading challenges ahead. The session was highly interactive with participants asking several questions, adequately responded by the guest.

Guest Speakers Initiative (Session 2)

BBA Program Office organized a guest speaker session with Mr. Shah Muhammad, Director – Human Resource, Vivo, Pakistan, on 27th March. The theme of this talk session revolved around: Major human capital challenges faced by Pakistan’s corporate sector and HR practices at Vivo mobile in terms of talent acquisition and retention. The guest emphasized on the importance of HR functions in any organization in the light of his professional experiences at Telenor, Warid Telecom, Schlumberger and Vivo. In response to a question, he said that while recruiters consider several factors at the time of hiring, modern HR managers have a strong inclination towards assessing behavioral attributes of candidates and their matching with hiring company’s culture. The session was highly interactive with participants asking several questions, adequately responded by the guest.
