Literary Society in collaboration with the English Department staged its 3rd Annual English Play “Inferno” on 7th June 2017. This first ever lyrical play at UCP was an adaptation of Dante’s Inferno portraying Lucifer, ruling the hell, along with the seven deadly sins. The purpose of the play was to create awareness among the students that evil shows us the way to sins and hence we shall be careful about choosing, acting and desiring.
The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Fehmida Sultana, praised the hard work of students and their enthusiasm. The play went a big hit as the team put in their 100% and the sea of audience gave a standing ovation to the excellent show. The efforts of the team were also appreciated by the guests from other prestigious universities and schools like Lahore College for Women University, National College of Arts, Lahore Grammar School, Forman Christian College and Convent of Jesus and Mary. The guests took with them a positive image of the university and witnessed the friendly environment as well.
“Inferno” undoubtedly gave its audience a good time as well as deep message that humans alone are responsible for their deeds, good or bad. The hell has no fire… every sinner burns in his own guilt; creating his own inferno.
