Motorway Police headquarters Sial Mor View mapAyesha Sheeraz, Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, delivered a talk on Coping Strategies as a Way to Deal with Stress to Motorway Police at their headquarters Sial Mor, on 5th December 2017. The audience consisted of around 50 police officers of different ranks including SSPs, DSPs, Inspectors, sub inspectors and other patrolling officers.
The session emphasized improving the quality of coping styles adapted by the police officers. The whole idea and concept was to help the officers to identify the negative and unhealthy ways and develop more positive and healthy coping strategies to deal with life stresses. Once the skills are in place, it helps to stabilize mood, increase work performance and productivity, improve relationships, and the risk of various stress related illness diminishes. Practical demonstration and case examples were used to explain the underlying concepts and subsequent cultural related suggestions were made.
