What are the admission requirements?

FA/F.Sc. from an HEC recognized institution or A-level from an English educational system or equivalent from other foreign systems. Minimum 2nd division. Scoring 60% marks in an in-house written test by the department.

Do you have to appear in entrance test and interview for admission?

Yes, appearing and scoring 60% marks in an in-house written test by the department. Entrance test will be computerized. The test will be mix of general knowledge, Math and English. There will be no interview required for the passing students.

What kind of scholarships are available?

You can look for merit scholarship. PGS fee concession and other discounts like kinship and disabled. Details of these scholarships, concessions and discounts is provided in the prospectus.

Can I transfer credits from another university?

Yes, if it is HEC recognized. You can transfer up to half the degree credit hours, if the courses match the ones in the UCP roadmap.

What kinds of courses will I be studying in this degree?

In first year, you will be taking generic level mixed courses. From 2nd year onwards you will taking immediate level Economics courses. In third year, you will be studying core courses and in last year, you will be having specialized courses.

Apart from courses what other graduation requirements are there?

Internship, VIS (volunteer in service) thesis or additional courses.

How long does it usually take to complete your program?

Students typically take 4 years to finish their under graduation program.

What facilities are available in the university for me as an Economics student?

As Economics students you will be having open access to scientific journals.

What extracurricular activities are there to experience?

UCP offer many societies where students can showcase their talents in drama, singing, debating and others. Economics department hosts Young Economists’ Forum (YEF) run by the patron Fouzia Awan. YEF regularly conducts seminars and roundtable discussions in order to keep our students updated regarding current economic conditions of our country.

What is the atmosphere like within the department?

The spirit of the department is collegial and collaborative, not competitive. Students and faculty members often work together on research ideas and offer feedback and suggestions on projects.

How can I get admission in the MS Economics program?

Prospective students need a M.Sc. or BS (Hons), with an Economics major or minor and a minimum of 2nd division or 2.5 CGPA.

Is an entry test and interview required to gain admission in this program?

Yes, appearing and scoring 60% marks in an in-house written test by the department. The test will be subject specific. There will also be an interview required for the passing students. Additionally, passing score from GAT general test is also required.
