This office will advise on programs that are offered and administered by the Faculty of Life Sciences. It includes degrees in the following fields: Biotechnology; Microbiology and Biochemistry.
Does UCP offer scholarship / financial assistance?
UCP offers 100% tuition fee waiver in the form of merit scholarships on the basis of academic excellence. PGC based Fee Concessions are offered to alumni of all its institutions for BS Programs in the Faculty of Life Sciences. 25% fee concession on basis of kinship is also available to siblings. This concession is subject to maintaining a CGPA of 3.00 or higher in the second and subsequent semesters with a minimum workload of 04 courses in a regular semester.

Does UCP follow the academic calendar and how many times it offers admissions in a year?
Yes, UCP follows Academic Calendar which is prepared well before the start of semester by the office of Registrar, discussed in the Dean’s committee and approved by the Pro-Rector. There are two main semesters: Fall and Spring. UCP offers admissions twice a year i.e., during both semesters.
What is the admission criteria for BS Biotechnology Program?
To apply for BS in any program under FLS, a candidate must have at least 45% marks or 2nd division in F.Sc. Pre-Medical /A level or an equivalent.
What is the admission criteria for M.Sc Biotechnology Program?
To apply for M.Sc Biotechnology, a candidate must have at least 45% marks or 2nd division in B.Sc from HEC recognized institute and have studied at least two of the following subjects in B.Sc such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Zoology, Botany, Anatomy etc. or equivalent.
How many credit hours are required for a BS degree?
The BS degree is awarded after completion of 132-134 credit hours of coursework with minimum CGPA of 2.50. The degree requirements are normally completed over 4 years spreading over 8 semesters. HEC criteria is strictly followed.
How many credit hours are required for MSc degree?
M.Sc. degree will be awarded per HEC Criteria after the successful completion of 66 credit hours (including 54 credit hours for course work and 12 credit hours for research work). Further, students will be required to have at least 2.50 CGPA at the time of degree completion.
How many credit hours are required for MS degree?
The MS degree is awarded strictly per HEC criteria after completion of 30 credit hours including 24 credit hours for course work and 06 credit hours of research work with minimum CGPA of 2.50. The degree requirements are normally completed over 2 years spreading over 4 semesters.
How many credit hours are required for a PhD degree?
PhD degree is awarded after successful completion of 48 credit hours including 18 credit hours for course work followed by Comprehensive Examination and 30 credit hours for research work & thesis. Students will be required to have minimum CGPA of 3.00 at the time of degree completion.
How many courses am I allowed to take per semester during BS Program?
BS students may take a maximum of 6 courses per semester in the Fall/Spring and 2 courses in the Summer. But normally missing and withdrawal courses are offered during Summer Semester.
Can I study an area of Life Science if I did not do it at F.Sc. (Year 12)?
No. At FLS, for admission in BS Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, student should have F.Sc./A level Pre-medical.
