BS Agri Tech

The BS Agri-Technology is a modern 4-year interdisciplinary undergraduate degree program offered by the Department of Biotechnology. The program integrates agriculture with emerging technologies, including biotechnology, artificial intelligence, hydroponics, precision agriculture, robotics, IoT, remote sensing, agribusiness, and climate-smart farming.

The program is designed to prepare graduates capable of addressing future agricultural challenges through innovative, sustainable, and technology-driven solutions. The curriculum combines theoretical learning with laboratory training, smart farming technologies, field exposure, internships, and specialization-oriented capstone projects. Students will also have the opportunity to pursue research specialization tracks in:

  1. Precision Agriculture & Smart Farming
  2. Agricultural Biotechnology
  • Food Processing & Post-Harvest Technology
  1. Controlled Environment Agriculture & Hydroponics
  2. Agribusiness & Agri-Entrepreneurship

through electives, internships, and capstone projects in the final year.

The following minimum requirements must be fulfilled for the award of the BS Agri Technology degree:

  1. Completion of all courses in the General Education category as prescribed by the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy 2023 (V 1.1). The University may adopt HEC model courses where applicable. Elective courses within the broader agricultural and allied disciplines may be offered based on academic resources, infrastructure, geographical relevance, and program objectives.
  2. Successful completion of a minimum of 150 credit hours over at least eight (08) semesters within four (04) academic years.
  3. Completion of a Capstone Project (03 credit hours) in accordance with HEC guidelines for undergraduate programs. This requirement cannot be substituted with additional coursework.
  4. Completion of a mandatory Internship (03 credit hours) as per HEC Undergraduate Education Policy. This requirement shall not be replaced by coursework, research work, or any other academic activity.
  5. Achievement of a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 for the degree award. The University may prescribe a higher CGPA requirement where applicable.
  6. The degree shall be completed within a minimum of eight (08) regular semesters (four years). The maximum duration may be extended by up to two (02) additional semesters in exceptional cases, subject to approval of the relevant statutory bodies. Summer semesters shall not be counted as regular semesters.
  7. Completion of at least one professional certification (equivalent to 3–6 credit hours) as a mandatory graduation requirement. The certification must be aligned with program learning outcomes and mapped to relevant coursework. Areas may include smart agriculture, hydroponics, artificial intelligence in agriculture, agribusiness, biotechnology, precision farming, GIS, drone technology, food processing, or other emerging agricultural technologies.
