UCP’s Sportsmen has managed to maintain the legacy of winning.
The phenomenal sportsmen of UCP for the 6^th time consecutively, beating 120+ public and private universities of Pakistan, has accomplished to win the All Pakistan HEC Intervarsity Sports Championship 2016-17.
Sports is an integral part of the extracurricular activities at University of Central Punjab, including the sports like league tournaments of badminton, basketball, cricket, hockey, soccer, table tennis and swimming. The sports department at University of Central Punjab is providing state of the art facilities to its students with world class gym, four season’s heated swimming pool, a multi-purpose games hall. The Management also arrange training camps for its sportsmen under the supervision of highly qualified coaches and trainers. UCP giveaway a huge amount to its students in terms of cash prize and scholarships and also offers free education to sports students form BS to MPhil level. Apart from on-campus activities, students take an active part in the tournaments organized by HEC. Every year 300+ sportsmen represent UCP at HEC Sports Championship, these teams not only participate in the nationwide tournament but in the international tournaments as well. University of Central Punjab has attained the streak of winning the HEC General Trophy for the sixth time this year.
HEC Sports Championship features a neck to neck competition with Lahore university of management and sciences LUMS, University of the Punjab, Superior university, Sindh University, Karachi University and other 120 private, government and semi-government universities. These universities compete in 33 different categories of games out of which the maximum number of the 1^st position stands are secured by the University of Central Punjab.
This year, in All Pakistan Higher Education Commission Sports Championship University of Central Punjab took 1^st position in 19 games, 2^nd position in 9 games and 3rd position in 3 games and won total of 196 gold medals, 70 silver medals and 15 bronze medals that made UCP lift the trophy and set the record of becoming the first private sector university to win All Pakistan Intervarsity sports championship for the sixth time in a row.
To celebrate this glorious achievement, UCP sports team along with the former captain of Pakistan Cricket team Misbah-ul-Haq presented the HEC General Trophy to Pro-rector UCP Dr. Zafarullah. followed by a motivational speech by Former Leg Spinner Pakistan Cricket team Mushtaq Ahmed and left-handed batsman Salman Butt. The crowd cheered the victory celebrations with the UCP Sports team and numerous rewards in the shape of Umrah Tickets, Motorcycles and cash prizes for the UCP sportsmen.
