Prospects of PhD Program Graduates

Students in the PhD program in computer science work with leading researchers in cutting-edge labs to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence, robotics, computer vision, natural language processing, advanced data structures, network design/security, real-time systems, theoretical computer science, information retrieval, and computer graphics. Partial funding are available through faculty development program, research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and/or fellowships.

Our research groups offer numerous possibilities for exploration. Lectures and seminars by outstanding leaders in their fields at our departmental and laboratories’ symposiums provide objectivity, extensiveness, and relevance to the research and education experience. Faculty and research centers creates an academic environment, which facilitates collaborative and cooperative working for creating knowledge and exploring knowledge areas.

The general duties of a computer and information research scientist include:

  1. Identify problems faced in country primarily and globally at large
  2. Develop and design solutions to solve the problems using various domains of knowledge
  3. Help scientists and engineers solve complex computing problems
  4. Develop and improve the software systems that form the basis of the modern computing experience
  5. Design and develop machine learning-based systems to improve decision-making and other complex problem solving
  6. Design experiments to test the operation of these software systems
  7. Publish their findings in academic journals
