Prof. Dr. Fawad Baig serves as Dean and Professor at the Faculty of Media and Mass Communication (FMMC), University of Central Punjab (UCP). He has 24 years of experience in academia and the television industry. He holds PhD degrees in Media & Communication Studies (Areas: Media Systems & Political Parallelism) from Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany, graduating Magna Cum Laude (High Distinction), and in Computer Science (Areas: Adaptive Hypermedia & E-Learning) from the University of Education, Lahore. He also completed doctoral courses at Aarhus University (Denmark), NTNU (Norway), and the University of Perugia (Italy). Before joining academia, he served at Pakistan Television (PTV) for 14 years as Producer Programs/TV Director, producing 35 television projects, including dramas and documentaries. He has also directed and produced independent short films. His academic contributions include 35 research publications and 17 international conference papers, presented at leading forums such as ICA, IAMCR, ECREA, WAPOR, and the International Journal of Press/Politics Conference at the University of Oxford. He received the Naomi C. Turner Prize for Best Paper at the WAPOR Conference in Portugal in 2017 and the Best Researcher & Innovator Award at UCP. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the UCP Journal of Mass Communication, is a Member of the Punjab Film City Authority, and has led a British Council-funded academic mobility project as Principal Investigator. He has organized an international media conference and three media symposiums, led the organization of film festivals and workshops, and supervised 9 PhD dissertations and 12 MPhil/MS theses & film projects.
