Global Conference on Psychopathology & Rehabilitation GCPR-24 – Day 1

Department of Psychology in collaboration with Fountain House Lahore organized the Global Conference on Psychopathology & Rehabilitation (GCPR-24 on June 26 & 27, 2024. The event, themed “Wellness Our Shared Responsibility,” aimed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and advance mental health advocacy, awareness, and therapeutic methodologies within the context of physical activity promotion.

Patron in Chief Dr. Hadia Awan and Co-Patron in Chief Prof. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, along with Chief Organizer Dr. Shazia Hassan and Co-Chief Organizer Dr. Amjad Saqib, led the conference. The event assembled esteemed experts, practitioners, advocates, and stakeholders globally, focusing on themes such as psychopathologies, substance-related disorders, suicide and mental health, treatment and prevention, recovery and rehabilitation, stigma and discrimination, and social support.

Day 1 commenced with a welcome note from Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt, followed by an opening speech from Dr. Hadia Awan. Keynote speakers included Dr. Gulnaz Anjum (Norway) discussing “Invisible Suffering in Climate Change: Representation and Mental Health Disparities in the Global North and Global South,” Dr. Holly G. Prigerson (USA) on “Prolonged Grief Disorder and Approaches to Empowerment,” and Dr. Amjad Saqib from Fountain House, sharing insights on psychopathology and rehabilitation. A panel discussion on psychopathology and rehabilitation, moderated by Ms. Momina Nayyer, featured panelists Dr. Nashi Khan, Dr. Erum Bukhari, Dr. Usman Amin Hotiana, Dr. Asir Ajmal, and Dr. Imran Murtaza, offering deep insights into the field. The day concluded with a social night, including performances by the UCP Music Society and a mime play by the UCP Dramatics Club, addressing issues like child abuse, bullying, and parental neglect.
