Service Design Innovation has become increasingly popular in the last decade to improve existing service offerings and create entirely new offerings continuously. Service design innovation is the creative application of design thinking methods to develop services. An online guest speaker session was arranged by Dr Raja Irfan Sabir, HoD, Department of Marketing, Operations & Supply Chain, UCP Business School, on the topic “New Service Development”. The session was arranged for a better understanding of · What is the importance of Service Innovation? · How Services can be Innovative? · How creative Ideas are generated? · Strategies for New Service Development The guest speaker, Mr Faheem Aslam (CEO, Alpha, Oman; and, Founder and Chairman, 7th Sense Designs, Pakistan), briefed the students that products are designed in product design, concepts for services are developed in service design. Either existing services can be improved, or new services can be created. By quoting local and foreign examples of Hospitality and Healthcare Industries, Mr. Faheem explained the concept of Design Innovation and the importance of the concept of “Empathy” being at the heart of Service Innovation
