United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC)-Ethical Ambassador Training Program in Collaboration with UCP, Faculty of Law

Faculty of law in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has conducted the Ethical Ambassador Training Program Cohort 2. The inaugural and orientation session was held on 12th January, 2023. Ms. Juhaida Hanano, Criminal Justice Advisor, UNODC Country Office Pakistan, Mr. Florian Lair, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at UNODC Headquarters, Austria, Ms. Sibrina D Andrea, Associate Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at UNODC, Syed Ijaz Qutub, Ex-additional Dist. and Sessions Judge & Senior Advocate Lahore High Court, Mr. Abubakr Nauamn Kazi, Deputy Prosecutor General Punjab, Prof. Syed Hussain Haider, Chairman Pakistan Institute of Human Rights, Pro-Rector UCP, Dr. Nassar Ikram and Dr. Hadia Awan, Dean Faculty of Law attended the inauguration session.

UNODC’s Ethical Ambassador Training Program is part of its Global Integrity Education Introduced in Kenya, Mexico and Pakistan as a pilot project. The program is focused on the implementation of Integrity Education programs to foster ethical-decision making. The program includes modules on integrity, ethics and anti-corruption and the trained graduates become the ethics ambassadors at their workplaces to support the development of anti-corruption programs. In Cohort 2 of EATP, students from Faculty of Law (UCP), Lahore University of Management sciences (LUMS) and University of Lahore (UoL) are taking part. The training of Cohort 1 was conducted last year from the platform of UCP Faculty of Management Sciences.

During the inaugural session, the speakers underscored the need of ethical training of the future leaders since the ethical decisions of the leaders lay the foundation for the organizations to flourish and maintain trustworthy reputation.

Representatives from the UNODC Headquarters, Austria and from the country office Pakistan thanked UCP Faculty of Law and the trainers for taking on the challenge of ethically training the future leaders of the public and private sector and expressed their hopes that this training will encourage the participants to play their role in the society to eliminate corruption.

The inauguration was followed by the orientation training workshop for participants. This is an exhaustive training, hybrid in nature; consisting of one-week on campus sessions and one-week virtual sessions followed by an exam. The one-week on campus sessions concluded on 21st January, 2023 in which trainers from legal fraternity, Judiciary and Corporate world were invited. The virtual session started from 24th January, 2023.

The successful students will be certified as UNODC Ethical Ambassadors and will be placed with different corporations/companies as interns.
