Dr. Sajid Mansoor

Dr. Sajid Mansoor has a PhD in ‘Virology and Immunology’ from the Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB), National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Islamabad. Prior to which he completed Master and M. Phil in ‘Biological Sciences’ from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Research during his PhD focused on how HCV interacts with our immune system in treatment naive patients compared to those under treatment and how the immune system is perturbed during infection and how different treatment regimens try to restore those. As part of his PhD research, he also developed an alternate genome analysis strategy for small sized genomes and HCV genotyping primers based on it, that could successfully genotype un-type able HCV genotypes from Pakistan. During his PhD he was also part of an NRPU project regarding early HIV detection and miRNAs, as a research associate. His expertise is in the field of molecular biology, however, he is also an avid user of bioinformatics. Currently, he is exploring various genetic elements responsible for the XDR Salmonella enterica Typhi strains in Pakistan.
