COVID Plasma Finder – Initiative by UCP Students

Pakistan witnessed the first Coronavirus case in February 2020 and since then the number of COVID positive patients has only been increasing. Recently, the possibility of plasma therapy is under consideration for treatment and has shown positive results.

Realizing the need of the hour, a group of 3 students from the University of Central Punjab led by Danish Israr Khan; a junior year student enrolled in Bachelors of Computer Science and serving as the President of UCP ACM Student Chapter and his friends Muhammad Aghnus Jamil, and Mughees Butt (UCP Alumni from the Faculty of Information Technology), developed a website called COVID Plasma Finder aimed at bringing the plasma donors and the patients/families in need, under one platform, hence bridging the gap and making the search convenient for those suffering from the disease.

“Observing the current situation of our country we noticed a communication gap between the families of COVID-19 patients and the recovered patients who were willing to donate the plasma. To bridge this gap we came up with an idea to make a web-based platform that brings the willing donors and those looking for plasma together hence accelerating the search and recovery process and making it more convenient.” said Danish Israr Khan when asked about the purpose and idea behind this initiative in a recent interview.

The said website is broadly categorized into four main segments titled:
1.Looking for a donor
2.I want to donate
3.Help a patient
4.Register as a patient

Danish Israr Khan and Muhammad Aghnus Jamil launched this website under their entrepreneurial start-up called “Techno Desert”.
Representing the team, Danish said, “Nothing is achievable without the collective effort of everybody involved in the project.” He expressed his gratitude towards his team members; Aghnus and Mughees for believing in him and playing a vital role in making this possible.
The team members applauded the instructors at the University of Central Punjab for encouraging them to believe in the power of their dreams and facilitating the practical implementation of knowledge.

With this website, the founders are hopeful to help as many patients as possible in sourcing the right donors in an effective and efficient manner.  If you are looking for a donor or are a COVID-19 survivor and wish to donate plasma visit: https://covidplasmafinder.reework.org/
