View mapBBA Program Office organized a guest speaker session with Mr. Naeem Saqib, Senior Specialist, After Sales Marketing, Toyota Motor Asia Pacific, Singapore, on Wednesday, 3rd January, 2018. The topic was: ‘Toyota and Other Japanese Automotive Companies – Macro Level Strategies in Asian Markets’. The speaker presented an overview of Toyota’s global footprint and value chain starting from design activities to manufacturing and, subsequently, customer support. The session also encompassed a very interesting discussion about the future technologies in automotive industry and consequent implications for underlying supply chain. Mr.Naeem also shared his insights into the strategies opted by Toyota for North American, Asian and European markets as well as products placements in comparison with western competitors like American big 3 (Ford, Chrysler and GMC) and BMW, Renault, Mercedes etc in Europe. Participants also learned about differences between Toyota and other Japanese OEMs, in terms of strategies for new markets, manufacturing partnerships and supply base development including unique challenges Toyota faced in Pakistan. Guest’s concluding remarks highlighted Toyota’s vision and company’s future plans in the region.
