This course is structured to emphasize fundamental communication principles and the
application of these principles to contemporary analog and digital communication systems.
Students will learn basic concepts associated with information, coding, modulation, detection, and signal processing in the presence of noise. They will apply these concepts to
the design of contemporary communications such FM radio, digital telephony.
During this course, students will study analog communications such as amplitude and angle
modulation, analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion, practical issues involved in A/D conversion,
pulse modulation techniques such as pulse code modulation, pulse width modulation, noise
and its types and its effect on the performance of analog communication systems.
