Sheikh Waqas Akhtar received his Master degree in Computer Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad in 2017 and Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 2010. Since then, he has held positions in both industry and academia. He has worked as Services Engineer for Ericsson, a global telecom company, in the IP & Core Switching department. He has also worked as a researcher at INRIA Lille Nord Europe- France on various machine Learning/AI projects. His expertise and research interests include machine learning, signal/image processing, computer vision and optimization. He is keen to see his algorithms solve challenging problems in healthcare, transportation, manufacturing industry and telecommunication and further improve state of the art. His teaching philosophy is to motivate students, develop their vision and intuition, give them the necessary tools and techniques, and build up their confidence to pursue their goals while working independently or in a team.
