Prof. Dr. Fawad Baig

Prof. Dr. Fawad Baig serves as Dean and Professor at the Faculty of Media and Mass Communication (FMMC), University of Central Punjab (UCP). He has 24 years of experience in academia and the television industry. He holds PhD degrees in Media & Communication Studies (Areas: Media Systems & Political Parallelism) from Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany, graduating Magna Cum Laude (High Distinction), and in Computer Science (Areas: Adaptive Hypermedia & E-Learning) from the University of Education, Lahore. He also completed doctoral courses at Aarhus University (Denmark), NTNU (Norway), and the University of Perugia (Italy). Before joining academia, he served at Pakistan Television (PTV) for 14 years as Producer Programs/TV Director, producing 35 television projects, including dramas and documentaries. He has also directed and produced independent short films. His academic contributions include 35 research publications and 17 international conference papers, presented at leading forums such as ICA, IAMCR, ECREA, WAPOR, and the International Journal of Press/Politics Conference at the University of Oxford. He received the Naomi C. Turner Prize for Best Paper at the WAPOR Conference in Portugal in 2017 and the Best Researcher & Innovator Award at UCP. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the UCP Journal of Mass Communication, is a Member of the Punjab Film City Authority, and has led a British Council-funded academic mobility project as Principal Investigator. He has organized an international media conference and three media symposiums, led the organization of film festivals and workshops, and supervised 9 PhD dissertations and 12 MPhil/MS theses & film projects.

Mr. Muhammad Kamran Butt

Mr. Kamran Butt is the focal person of BS Film, TV & Digital Media at Faculty of Media and Mass communication. His is doing his PhD in Media & Communication Studies. He has more than 14 years of experience in electronic media. He has worked as Producer & Executive Producer for Geo News and AAP News respectively. He has served as visiting faculty of National College of Arts, University of the Punjab and BNU. Mr. Kamran holds two MPhil degrees in Sociology and Communication Studies. He has completed his Chevening fellowship under title, “Good governance in a changing world, media, politics and society” from University of Westminster London. He has done training course designed for journalists under title, “Communicating Labour Rights”, from International training centre, Turin, Italy. He has won number of national and international awards for his documentaries including, ILO media award of best labour and gender story of the year. He has also won “White Ribbon (best documentary) media award”.

Dr. Atif Ashraf

Assistant Professor & HoD, Department of Film, TV and Digital Media and Department of Media & Mass Communication

With over 20 years of experience in the media industry and academia, including roles as a Producer at Express News and as a Senior Producer and Shift in charge at Dunya TV and Aap News, I bring a wealth of expertise in content creation, academic research, production, editing, and news management. Currently I am serving as an Assistant Professor and HoD at the Faculty of Media and Mass Communication since March 2020, I hold a PhD in Media Studies with an extensive publication record, including 25 research papers and Nine conference papers. I have also won best researcher award of UCP at faculty level. I have produced five PhDs and 17 MPhil/MS graduates. As a graduate of the National Academy of Higher Education and an HEC-PhD-approved supervisor, I am committed to advancing knowledge and fostering the growth of future media professionals. My research interests are journalism practice and political communication.

I am Ashbeelah Shafaqat Ali, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Media and Mass Communication, UCP. My research focuses on various areas, with particular emphasis on media psychology, gender and media, and media effects.

Dr. Sadaf Zahra

Dr. Sadaf Zahra is an Assistant Professorat Faculty of Media and Mass Communication, University of Central Punjab, Lahore. She has recently completed her PhD in Communication Studies from University of the Punjab, Lahore. She did her M.Phil. from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan with a distinction of Gold Medal. She is associated with University of Central Punjab since 2017; firstly, as Research Associate and then as Lecturer. Besides performing other various tasks at department level, she renders her services as head of departmental research committee, and Managing Editor of UCP Journal of Mass Communication. She is also working as reviewer of two International and one National Research Journal. She has more than 10 research publications in different HEC recognized journals likewise she has presented her research work in several national and international conferences. Ms. Zahra also has hands-on experience with soft-wares like SPSS, NVivo, Endnote, Citavi and Mendeley etc. Her areas of interest in research include Feminism, Media Ethics, Health Communication, and Cyberbullying.
